Scenic Rim Regional Council

Scenic Rim Regional Council employs more than 420 people, all who are committed to delivering community services and infrastructure to our many customers, including Scenic Rim community and local businesses.

Scenic Rim Regional Council was established in 2008 following the amalgamation of Beaudesert Shire Council, Boonah Shire Council, and parts of Ipswich City Council.

Each day our teams are proudly delivering services for our customers across the region. This includes more than 40,000 residents, approximately 4,500 businesses and the many visitors who come out to enjoy our breathtaking scenery and authentic visitor experiences that the Scenic Rim is so famous for.

With the Scenic Rim region covering 4,254km2, and a population of more than 40,000, we've got a lot of ground to cover. We maintain almost $1 billion of community assets including:

  • 793km of unsealed roads
  • 63 concrete bridges
  • 69 timber bridges
  • 328 concrete floodways
    • 78km stormwater pipes
    • 210 buildings
    • 494 major culverts
    • 62 public toilet facilities
    • 81km footpaths
    • 4 swimming pools
    • 4 libraries
    • 43 playgrounds, and
    • 129 parks, reserves and camping ground (or 426ha of land).

    Our teams are also responsible for delivering community and cultural programs, building and health compliance, animal management, environmental management,  town planning, economic and tourism development, regional events and destination marketing.

    Supporting our frontline teams are employees  responsible for governance, human resources,  accounts and finance, information technology and communications and marketing.
